| FRIDAY 19th of September, Toulouse - FRANCE: Today QANTAS took delivery of its first Airbus A380-800. At 0430 20th of Sept. (AEST) Airbus officially handed over the aircraft to QANTAS in an elaborate ceremony. To conclude the ceremony, the aircraft was bathed in a spectacular light show, including the steps that the A380 has been through since it became the Airbus A3XX. Following the conclusion of the ceremony, the aircraft left Toulouse bound for Sydney, via Singapore. |
| SUNDAY 21st of September, Sydney - AUSTRALIA: At approximately 9am this morning, QANTAS' first A380-800 touched down at Sydney's Kingsford Smith International Airport on Runway 16R. The aircraft followed a company Airbus A330. The landing was a little rough, but that is to be expected for a brand new aircraft. After the aircraft landed, it exited RWY16R via TWYA5, then travelled North on TWY ALPHA, crossed RWY16R on TWYA1 and continued down B2, before having a tug hooked onto the aircraft and towed down DOM1 apron. It was then towed into QANTAS Hanger 96 for AQIS and Immigration to complete all the associated paperwork with an International flight. Once all the paperwork was completed, the pilots and crew we welcomed home. |
